Reflections on the Learning Journey
I'm glad there's still humor available on the web. There's enough out there to have only an online life, which is scary. Lot's of possibilities for library improvements, but I think the most immediate would be if we all take away they idea that it's ever changing, with the customer in mind. Too tired for weighty insights, but I'm done. Amen.
Podcasts, Video & Downloadable audio
Podcast.net directory seemed easy to use with intuitive categories for locating wide variety of podcasts.
Introducing Le Book speaks to the concerns with new technology, though you do have to read the subtitles.
Hadn't looked at Project Gutenberg in ages. I think the site is easier to get around. It's great to know some of these old tombs are still alive in digital format. Since I take no time to just relax & listen or watch anything, I haven't gotten into listening to books, or thought about 'downloadables' much. If I listened in the car, I'd probably end up in a ditch somewhere.

Online Productivity Tools & Awards List
Staff wouldn't need any particular office product if we used this & sharing would be even easier. Posted couple of docs on Google docs that I'll be working on this weekend, since I spent the past 3 hours trying to catch up on 23 things. WAHOOO I can work day & night!
Tried Zillow to find what homes in my neighborhood are selling for these days... Library could add to customer favorites for easy real estate comparison searching.

Wiki is a way of gathering together information and pooling the knowledge of many people.

Had to reset my Merlin password before I could post to the sandbox, though I've been a member for over a year... I do miss my memory... Adding my blog to the Sandbox favorites wasn't as quick & easy as the directions led me to believe.

Del.icio.us - Technorati - Web 2.0
Del.icio.us is interesting way to share favorites & make them available anywhere. I can see this being useful for sharing at the Reference Desk & with patrons. Interesting to see how several libraries have used Del.icio.us on their public web sites.

If the blogging trend continues, it is estimated that Technorati will have tracked its 100 millionth blog in just 5 months." --Since that was in Jan,07, I guess we're well over a million!! Mind boggling!

I'm not sure I've settled on how I feel about all this 2.0, but here are some perspectives I've collected on Library 2.0 from the suggested readings:
Library 2.0 is also 'a term that can be used to describe both physical and mindset changes that are occurring within libraries to make our spaces and services more user-centric and inviting.' From Wikipedia,: 'Library 2.0 is a loosely defined model for a modernized form of library service that reflects a transition within the library world in the way that services are delivered to users'
Michael Casey on his Library Crunch blog: 'the need for libraries to adopt a strategy for constant change while promoting a participatory role for library users. ...library services have the ability to evolve and improve on a constant and rapid basis.'
'Walt Crawford, for example, argues that Library 2.0 comprises a combination of tools and attitudes which are excellent ideas and not new to librarianship,...'
'...involving external users appears to face some opposition.' from some librarians
